Top Ten Traits That Make A Good Mechanic: Could This Be YOU?
We often blog about information about or aimed at school vehicle drivers, but we think it’s about time we show our Service Department some love! Our Service Department repairs and maintains all sorts of vehicles, from buses to vans to emergency vehicles, and they do a great job every time. We enjoy welcoming hardworking and reliable mechanics to our team, so if the following points describe you, we’d love to hear from you!
Self-Motivated
We love working with people who strive to learn and improve their skills, and we’re always willing to help when you’re willing to ask questions!
Punctual
We schedule a lot of different vehicles with a variety of different issues for service, and we pride ourselves in our quick and quality repairs. Our mechanics showing up to work in a timely manner is essential to our business!
Mechanically inclined and educated
This point may seem a bit obvious, but if you’re looking to apply your mechanical knowledge and grow your skills, we’d gladly talk to you about joining our team.
Interested
As the old saying goes, if you enjoy what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life. If you’re interested in repairing vehicles, every new project will become more of a fun puzzle than a hassle!
Intelligent and full of common sense
This is a bit self-explanatory, but the people who make the best mechanics are the ones who are knowledgeable of their craft AND have good judgement in general situations.
Enthusiastic
The same reasoning in the point above applies here. Also, a positive attitude is contagious, so the more positive team members we have, the better the work environment is!
Conscientious
We pride ourselves in getting the job done right, so we love when team members only feel good finishing a job when they know they’ve done it to the best of their ability!
Tech-savvy
Here at Rohrer Bus, all of our shop team members use laptops to log progress on each vehicle. If you can make your way around a PC, you’d do great in our shop!
Dynamic
We love having bright personalities around the shop and people who are happy to work on a variety of different projects!
Thick-skinned
Let’s face it, sometimes our technicians run into some tough issues on the shop floor. It’s great when we get team members who don’t take criticism to heart, and can better themselves from it!
